Just a quickie to tell you all that The Woolly Shepherd has been sold.....but will still be producing fantastic insulation from local sheep and woolly packaging just up the road from where it was before.....to the same high ethical standards! I will still be involved in a small way whilst developing lots of other woolly ideas, running courses, giving talks, growing my veg, Chairing the local Parish Plan committee and vice chairing the Blackdown Hills transition group....Oh and of course breeding pedigree sheep!
We have 13 lambs from 11 mums at the moment 9 rams and 4 ewes....typical when tryong to expand! One more left to lamb now. We have had 2 sets of twins which is very unusual as Ouessants tend to have single lambs....and one is one of my smallest ewes!
The lambs are great time wasters to watch!

Hi Val! How typical that you get 9 rams and only 4 ewes. Since we got Ferdinand we're getting about 50/50 in the calf department which proves Genus wrong! They said it wasn't their semen, it was our herd health.

I'm glad to hear about your change in direction and I'm sure you'll find plenty to keep you occupied. More time to write your blog?

Keep well - thinking of you.

Sorry to see that you have been unwell you sound very positive! I just wondered if you knew of anybody who could turn our 2 fleeces into knitting wool? They are big fleeces as our sheep are 4 years old, not sure of breed but these are their best fleeces yet. Good luck with your lambs, we have 4 home bred GOS piglets who are getting very cheeky and rather large! Many thanks for your help. Clare Buckingham
